Owning a gite can be rewarding but its also hard work!  We have met many people who successfully run one or several gites.  One thing most of these people have in common is that, perhaps from time to time, they need a little help.  That might be with cleaning, the laundry or with some of the maintenance.  Guess what.....  we can help with all those aspects.

As we have developed Charente Assistance from its humble beginnings much of what we have done has in some ways been alongside those who rent out houses. We have listened to our clients needs and responded by providing the assistance that they need. Sometimes we have been asked to clear an area of neglected garden, sometimes season long garden maintenance or occasionally a one-off emergency job.

Fortunately you do not have to negotiate the long path to rental on your own.

We can offer you an appraisal of your property that will help you set up your home whilst highlighting changes or improvements you can make.

We can advise you as to what you will need for your rental and the best way to set up the house for both guest comfort as well as changeover team efficiencies. 

This is a stand alone service with no obligation to use our services beyond the appraisal.

We offer a full package of seasonal pool services that will ensure your pool remains crystal clear and ready to use whenever you want it.


When you hand over your home to changeover teams it is important you know what they will be doing each week.  There is much more to a changeover clean than 'just a clean' as our team will be preparing the house in just the right way. 


Below is a list of what is covered as standard but every property is different and every host likes to add their own little touches.  To this end we can adapt our services to your requirements as we want your holiday rental property to stand out.

On each changeover we will

  • Strip beds and collect towels                                  

  • Remake beds as required 

  • De-cobweb the entire house

  • Dust the entire house

  • Brush or vacuum all floors

  • Mop all hard floors

  • Fully clean all bathrooms and wc’s

  • Fully clean the kitchen including wiping down fridge and oven

  • Check small appliances such as microwave, toaster or coffee machines

  • Empty all bins in the house

  • Garden furniture will be checked for damage or breakages, arranged and wiped down

  • Parasols checked for damage or breakage

  • Our team will check for any damage or breakages and report back to you, if required

  • Dishwashers, washing machines and tumble dryers will be checked and emptied

  • Provisions (toilet roll, kitchen roll soap etc) can be topped up

  • Keys safes will be checked 

  • Outside spaces will be tidied

  • Barbecue will be wiped clean


What can be included at an extra cost 

  • The preparation and presentation of hampers or welcome packs

  • Inventories can be checked off

  • Kitchen cupboard contents can be checked and cleaned

  • Deep clean of fridge or oven/hob

  • Window cleaning 

  • Shopping for replacement items found broken or damaged on changeover day


What’s not included

  • Full laundry service (obligatory but at an extra cost)

  • Gardening and pool care which are both available as a separate service (see Quad Cover Service below)

  • Waste removal (eg. bottles, black or yellow bins)

  • Any repairs or maintenance in the house (our maintenance team will be on call if required at our standard rates)

  • Pre-season clean.  We recommend this is carried out by our team as it gives them an opportunity to familiarise themselves with your house before the pressure of a changeover day

  • Post season close.  We can close the house, store the garden furniture etc at the end of your rental season.



We hear tales of how owners take on one person to do the changeover, another to do the garden and, heaven forbid, perhaps a third to do the laundry or the pool.  With each person waiting on another to complete their part in this time pressured job, it can be frustrating at best, disastrous at worst!

We developed our Quad Cover Service a few years ago and this is the safest way for you to have full peace of mind during your rental season.  We will manage your changeovers, laundry, pool and garden for the full season meaning you know everything will be fully cared for.    


For the 2023 season we will only be offering changeovers as part of our Quad Cover Service where applicable: that is to say, if you have a pool and garden we must be caring for both of these, exclusively, for the full season.  


However if your property does not have a pool or perhaps even a garden, we may still be able to provide you with a changeover service, so lets have that discussion.




Unfortunately geographical restrictions do apply for Gite Services.

If your rental property is outside of the area shown on the map then, unfortunately, we cannot help you at this time.
